Overview

Path of Devotion. Let’s break this down.

Path: a course or direction in which a person is moving.

Each new day offers a chance to live fully into our path and bring us more in line with our deepest intentions. The traditional sense of achievements are on pause, allowing us to carve out a path that is in integrity with where we want to place our attention and time.

Devotion: what we devote our time, attention, our life force to.

This is a recommitment to the love and enthusiasm we bring to this life and to each moment.

We'll make space for ten days of deep self study, yoga practice, and falling in love with life again and again.

Curriculum

This unique 10-day training begins by establishing your svadharma, your own personal path.

Three themes will create a foundation for our practice and study:

  • Sankalpa: Unearthing your deepest intention/soul longing. What am I up to with this precious life resource?
  • Adhikara: Assessing your strengths and your greatest opportunities for growth.
  • Sadhana: Integrating practice and self-study into everyday life. How do I create a personal practice that is sustainable and attainable?

With this deeper understanding of your personal path of yoga, we’ll dive into the training’s core curriculum with experienced guidance from Janet Stone and top-of-their-field guest teachers.

  • Meditation: Slowing the fluctuations of the mind to experience presence
  • Mantra/Chanting: Opening your heart through your voice in a practice of devotion, surrender and clear intention
  • Pranayama: Using the breath to access the subtle body to nourish your life force
  • Asana, alignment, and anatomy: Coming to the physical practice as a means of self-study and honoring of our embodiment
  • Storytelling: Connecting to your own inner archetypes through the power of mythology
  • Philosophy: Exploring the history and philosophy through the practice and discussion

In this immersion, we deepen our relationship with self through the lens of bhakti — the devotional, heart-centered path of yoga. We will establish a foundation of living our daily life with love and devotion to each breath.

We'll gather along the northern bluffs of the Columbia Gorge to expand our perspective, connect with nature, and find space for new ideas and routines.

Guest faculty will include Marti Nikko and DJ Drez.

Who this Training is for?

This immersion is designed for teachers, aspiring teachers and long-term practitioners of yoga.

Training Details

This training is an in-person elective option for Janet's teacher training programs, and offers 108 hours of elective credit.

Lodging Options

Lodging is not included in this training. There are a number of delightful accommodations in White Salmon and the surrounding area. We will share some recommendations.

Enrollment

Enrollment is open for the 2024 Path of Devotion Immersion in White Salmon, Washington. A deposit of $908 is required to secure your spot. The remaining balance can be paid in one installment (due May 30), or via a 10-month payment plan.

Early rates are in effect through May 31, 2024. Rates will increase by $200 on June 1, 2024.

Janet Stone

Janet Stone

Janet’s studentship began at 17 under the meditation teachings of Prem Rawat. His reverence for simplicity and finding joy in the rise and fall of life live on in her practice and teaching today. In 1996, she traveled to India, the birthplace of her grandfather, and became dedicated to the path of yoga. Janet blends the alchemy of her own practice with decades of studentship. She aspires not to teach but to allow the practice to emanate from her, letting awareness blend with movement and breath. Based in Bali and San Francisco, she leads immersions, retreats, workshops and more.

Marti Nikko

Marti Nikko

A truly gifted teacher, Marti is known for motivating her students through her own passion. Fully certified in Yoga and the Pilates Method, and having worked in the wellness community for the past 18 years, she teaches from a deep understanding of movement dynamics and the body. Keeping students engaged using unique modifications and variations to the classic repertoire, her sessions encourage focus and concentration. She continually supports her desires to learn new methods and her ability to help one find strength and ease through practice. She believes in the deep healing power of yoga. It is her desire to create space that allows for greater depth, awareness and overall wellbeing in one’s practice.

DJ Drez

DJ Drez

Drez transforms the vibe of any scene his sound is set upon. Rooted in underground L.A. hiphop, Dr. EZ applies precise turn-table skills to a cutting edge vision for truly universal music, intelligently integrating elements of hiphop, world music, soul, funk, jazz, and reggae into his trademark sound and production. A master of his craft in the studio and on stage, Drez cuts and composes profoundly original tracks that facilitate body movement practice of all forms— be it dance, yoga asana or after-hours intimate/ecstatic.

Sara Davis

Sara Davis

Sara is forever a student of dharma. She is passionate about bringing the teachings into her daily life and onto the mat. She started studying yoga with Janet 3 years ago, illuminating a new path in life. One of more meaning, introspection, and commitment to kindness, compassion, and patience.
With a fiery spirit, a love of nature, travel, and all things adventure, Sara calls on her courage often and hopes to inspire others to do the same. She aims to spark joy while also holding space for healing. Everyone has a unique story about what brought them to the practice and Sara is here to support you on your own personal journey.

I am most experienced in...

I am most experienced in Buddhist teachings on mindfulness and meditation. I started meditating regularly over 10 years ago with sparks of interest years prior. Meditation teachers who have influenced and inspired my practice are Janet Stone, Matthew Brensilver, Jack Kornfield, Pema Chodron, and Ram Dass just to name a few.
I am also experienced in art as therapy. Poetry writing, photography, painting, dance, and other techniques help us to see deeply, experience, and interpret the world. I like to incorporate these artistic expressions into my practice as a way of looking inward at my perceptions and values.
Nature plays a large role as teacher in my practice. Mindful walking, wild swimming, nature listening, and forest bathing create connection to ancestors and that small still voice within. This connection is part of the very fabric of my makeup and play an important role in how I interact with the world.

I am committed to studying and deepening my practice in Surrender. By trusting in the universe and getting out of my own way, I commit to allowing in the universal energy that wants to enter my life. Through this practice of Svadhyaya, I recognize how resistant I am to my own life and can open myself up to be an instrument of grace.

FAQ

Which airport should I fly into?

Portland, Oregon

How do I get from the airport to the training space and form the training to the airport?

We will create a shared doc so that folks can coordinate rideshares and/or shared car rentals.

It is also possible to take the lightrail from the airport to Union Station and from there one train goes from Portland to White Salmon/Bingen each day.

Since lodging is not included, where can I stay?

A number of wonderful options exist in the region, and we recommend booking early. Local towns include White Salmon, Hood River, Underwood, and Bingen.

Some of our recommendations:

Society Hotel, Bingen, WA: they have a range of lodging options including private cabins and bunks

Hotel Iconica, White Salmon, WA: studio suites, one and two bedroom units (next door to the studio)

Camping: Memaloose State Park in Oregon is 30 minutes away. If you have a van or RV, or you love days of tent camping, this might be for you!

Airbnb or VRBO: We will share a google drive upon registration, for folks to connect for shared accommodations. Sharing a house with multiple bedrooms is one very feasible option. As of May 2, there are still some excellent options available, and once you register, we have a list to connect room/house shares.
